The Success of Frisco Fest
San Francisco Plantation’s 5th Annual Spring Garden & Crafts Festival proved to be a grand success. The two
day festival on March 1 & 2, 2008 was packed full of major events: Cruisin’ the Plantation Car Show, Chef ’s
Choice Cook-Off, 25 mile Bike Tour, 1-mile Fun Run, 5k run, and Texas Hold-em Tournament. All of the
excitement was accompanied by the upbeat sounds of Cajun music resonating of the stage of the wooden
barn, including Geno Delafonse & French Rockin’ Boogie who headlined the great musical lineup. The
plantation grounds were again filled with the best Cajun and Creole cuisine vendors and talented craft
vendors selling their unique products. And then there was the weather, which was perfect the entire
weekend. The sunshine and blue sky invited attendees to come and join the festivities. Final counts
revealed that over 4,000 people entered the gate to enjoy all that Frisco Fest had to offer.
Crafters & Artists Create a Memorable Show
Hundreds of individuals, families and friends came together to form one of the best crafts shows in our area. The beautiful, creative and old world charm the Artist and Crafters brought to the festival was simply
amazing. Endless hours were spent on making the crafts, saving many traditions and inventing new ones. Their time spent setting up and selling for two days took dedication and perseverance. The Craters and
Artists are what make Frisco Fest a spectacular show.
A winner of a free booth for next year’s show was chosen from all vendors who donated door prizes. This
year’s winner was Evelyn Schroeder with Unique Creations Silver and Crystals.

3rd Annual Cruisin’ the
Plantation Car Show
This year for the first time, the 3rd Annual Cruisin’
the Plantation Car Show took place during Fisco
Fest. The addition of an open car show was designed
to give the festival a strong first day boost. With over
110 classic cars, trucks, and motorcycles deciding to
participate in the competition, the car show did
much more than that. The entire front lawn was
packed with the works of art, meticulously buffed
and polished to impress the judges. From hotrods to
choppers, there was something for everyone to
appreciate and enjoy. With so many quality entrants,
the judges had a tough time deciding on the best
vehicles. But after carefully tabulating the scores,
awards were given for Best Engine, Best Paint, Best Interior, Best Bike, People’s Choice, and the Top 25
vehicles.

5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Run Energizes the Festival
On your Mark, Get Set, Go! Off went the competitors at the Frisco Fest 5K run and 1 mile fun run.
A total of 95 runners participated in the two events on Sunday Morning. First of the starting line was
an eager group at 7:30 am for the 1 mile course which ran up and down the historic River Road. The
short course created fast and intense action, but everyone who finished the race considered it an
achievement. At 8:00 am the serious athletes stepped to the line for the challenging 5K course which
stretched all the way through the streets of Garyville and back to the plantation. After the races, the
runners enjoyed all of the benefits for entering the competition: a custom T-Shirt, Food, Cold Beer,
and Free Admission to browse around the festival’s Crafts, Food & Entertainment.
